What Michou d'Auber Is About
During the Algerian war in France, an Algerian boy whose mother is gravely ill and whose father works long factory hours is placed in foster care with his brother. The younger one is taken in by a childless woman whose husband is a former soldier and a fierce Gaullist, so she hides the boy's Arab origins from him, renames him Michel and dyes his hair blond. Our two records differ greatly: the Turkish one says nothing about this concealment, which is the entire film. Depardieu and Nathalie Baye play the couple.
