Miracle on Everest

2006 was one of the deadliest seasons on record on Everest. The experienced climber Lincoln Hall joined an expedition as a high-altitude cameraman; twenty-two years earlier he had turned back just short of the top, and this was his second attempt. Shortly after reaching the summit he began behaving irrationally from lack of oxygen. Sherpas worked for more than nine hours to bring him down before he collapsed and was reported dead. His family were told and the news went out. The next morning a group of climbers coming up found him alive, and a difficult rescue began. Nobody else is known to have been declared dead at that height on Everest and survived. Jennifer Peedom's documentary tells it without turning it into sensation and puts the weight where it belongs, on the work the Sherpas did. Peedom would go on to be known for her mountain documentaries.
