Mirai

Karthik Gattamneni's 2025 Telugu film is a fantasy action picture departing from a historical legend. After the slaughter at Kalinga, Emperor Ashoka chose the path of peace and sealed the secret of immortality into nine sacred books, entrusting them to his most loyal guardians. In the present, someone appears who wants to seize those texts and reach divine power, and an ordinary young man learns he is the warrior charged with protecting them. The film belongs to the mythological superhero strain Telugu cinema has developed in recent years, with visual effects and action design that make the large budget visible. Its comic passages were widely judged its weakest element. Released in September 2025, it became one of the year's biggest Telugu earners. Who it's for: viewers who like Indian fantasy action and superhero narratives drawn from mythology. Who it's not for: anyone wanting a tight script and a measured tone; the film puts scale first.
