Mother Knows Best

The family gathers at home for the father’s birthday. Once they sit down the old days open up. Everyone has a memory to tell. What the stories have in common is one person. Josefa, Ana Luisa’s mother, died some time ago. Yet in most decisions her word was the one that counted. Ana Luisa notices this over that evening. She sees how her own life took its shape. She wonders what would have happened had she chosen otherwise. She remembers the things that went unsaid. Just then something strange occurs. An event of unknown cause disturbs space and time. People find they can cross into other possibilities. Ana Luisa is given the chance to change the past. Maria João Abreu and Joana Pais de Brito appear in the eighty nine minute film, a Portuguese production Nuno Rocha finished in 2016.
