What My Father My Lord Is About
A rabbi and his family are at the centre of the story. The man is respected in his congregation. He has one son and loves him deeply. The rules of his faith come before everything, though. The child is curious and full of movement. The father is serious and distant. A silent gap grows between them. For a long time the mother says nothing about the arrangement. One summer the family travels together. The father’s devotion to religious observance continues. That devotion leads, without his meaning it, to a disaster. After it the mother rages at her husband and at God. The film retells the story of Abraham from another side. Assi Dayan and Ilan Griff appear in the seventy two minute film, an Israeli production David Volach finished in 2007.
