Nandhan

Era. Saravanan's 2024 Tamil film tells the story of a young man in the countryside blocked at every step by the caste order. He wants an education, and in the village that carries a cost. The film names the matter directly. The narrative does not treat individual effort as enough; the school, the temple and the local administration are each shown, and the point is made that the obstacle is not one person. Sasikumar leads. The tone is harsh and there is violence. The production is mid-scale. Who it's for: viewers of Tamil films that take up caste. Who it's not for: viewers expecting the subject softened; the film argues an open position.
