What Never Say Never Is About
Xiang Tengui once made a name in fighting and then lost everything. He runs a quarry in rural China. One day he runs into a group of children with no families who have come to raid the place. He starts training them to fight, at first to make money, and then because he sees they have nowhere else to go. The team rises. Then a video reaches the press and the whole country is arguing about it: is this man saving these children or using them? Wang Baoqiang directs and takes the lead himself. Two hours. It draws on an argument that actually happened in China about parentless children being raised in fight clubs. The film leaves the question open and shows both sides.
