Sudhi Maddison's 2023 Malayalam film follows two friends who buy a dog together. They name him after a footballer, and the animal soon becomes the whole neighbourhood's business. The humour comes from sharing responsibility. Neither takes on the care, the costs grow and arguments with the neighbours begin; the narrative gives this through the detail of small-town life. Mathew Thomas and Naslen K. Gafoor lead. The tone is light and there is no violence; the narrative centres on friendship among the young and relations with families. It runs short and its plotting is simple. Who it's for: those who like warm Malayalam town comedy. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a dense narrative; the film never moves beyond everyday events.
