Nika

The film is drawn from the life of Nika Turbina. Turbina wrote poetry as a child. She became widely known in the Soviet Union. Then in the nineties she was forgotten completely. The film finds her at twenty seven. Nika is unsure of her own gift. She swings between hope and doubt. She wants to get into drama school. Because of the age limit she has only one attempt left. It is also her way of getting out of the house. Her mother both smothers her and weighs on her. She makes a new friend called Ivan. That meeting gives her some hope. Something left over from the past still holds her, though. Liza Yankovskaya and Anna Mikhalkova appear in the ninety three minute film, a Russian production Vasilisa Kuzmina finished in 2022.
