What On the Corner Is About
Randy is a young man. He comes from an Indigenous community. He left the reserve near Prince Rupert. He has come to Vancouver to look for his father. He is also looking for his sister Angel. Angel lives in the east end of the city. The district is called the Downtown Eastside. Life there is hard. Drugs and want are common. Angel is looking for a way out of it. In the end she finds the strength. Randy goes the other way. Loneliness and drugs draw him in. The director worked in that district for five years, with people using drugs at a shelter, and much of the film comes from that. It took awards at the Vancouver and Whistler festivals. Alex Rice appears in the ninety five minute film, a Canadian production Nathaniel Geary finished in 2003.
