What Operation Arsenal Is About

The year is 1943. Warsaw is under German occupation. Three young scouts are at the centre. Their code names are Zośka, Rudy and Alek. All three belong to the Szare Szeregi. That was the underground arm of the scouting movement. They act against the occupation. They pull a swastika down from the roof of a German cultural centre and raise the Polish flag in its place. They also blow up a travelling propaganda cinema. Then Rudy is arrested by the Gestapo. His friends decide to get him out, and the operation is planned near the Arsenal building. The second half of the film follows that raid step by step, drawn from Aleksander Kamiński’s book. Cezary Morawski and Mirosław Konarowski appear in the film, a Polish production Jan Łomnicki finished in 1977.
