Order of the Daisy

Matou is a harmless, mild looking man married to a woman as unhappy with him as he is with her, and rather frightening besides. Through his job at the museum he knows everything there is to know about restoring and authenticating manuscripts, particularly old ones. One day it occurs to him that the knowledge could be put to a far more personal use, and he embarks on a secret career rearranging the documents of people who have had the misfortune to marry the wrong person. As the business grows a circle forms around him and the matter stops being merely paperwork. In Jean-Pierre Mocky’s ninety minute French comedy, Claude Rich, Michel Serrault and Francis Blanche appear, with Paola Pitagora in the cast. It was completed in 1967 and takes marriage and bureaucracy into the same joke.
