What Other People Is About
It takes place in Warsaw. Kamil is in his thirties, still living with his mother in a block of flats, dreaming of a career as a rapper and getting by on casual work. Iwona is a bored and unhappy woman inside a luxury built on credit. What begins between them is no great love, but it shows each of them their own choices and the people around them in a different light. The text comes from Dorota Maslowska’s novel in verse, and the film delivers most of its speech as rap. The account puts neither side in the right; it shows a life built on credit and a life never built at all with the same lack of mercy. Aleksandra Terpinska’s ninety eight minute Polish film came out in 2022.
