What Other People's Money Is About
Henri Rainier has everything arranged: a good position at a large bank, a comfortable home, two daughters. Then the bank is caught in a major financial scandal, he is called into the director's office and accused of negligence, and resignation is the only option offered him. It does not take long to work out that he has been chosen as the scapegoat. When he starts investigating on his own, what he runs into is not one corrupt man but an entire arrangement. Christian de Chalonge adapted Nancy Markham's novel and took both Best Film and Best Director at the 1979 Cesars. Jean-Louis Trintignant, Catherine Deneuve and Michel Serrault play it, and the title asks the only question that matters about banking: whose money is being played with.
