Out of Love

Nathan Ambrosioni's film, called Les enfants vont bien in French, turns on a single disappearance. Suzanne, the sister of Jeanne, played by Camille Cottin, vanishes one day, leaving her two young children behind. Every attempt to trace her fails, and Jeanne is dropped into a motherhood she never wanted and was never prepared for. The film pursues this as family drama rather than as a missing person thriller. The mystery is there, but the answer is not what interests Ambrosioni. His subject is a woman caught between fury at her sister and longing for her, who starts to love the children and then wonders whether that love is a betrayal. Juliette Armanet and Monia Chokri round out the cast. It screened in competition for the Crystal Globe at Karlovy Vary on 5 July 2025 and opened in France on 3 December 2025, distributed by StudioCanal. Who it is for: viewers who like quiet French family drama built on performance. Who it is not for: anyone waiting for the disappearance to be solved, since the film leaves that question open on purpose.
