Out of the Blue

The film takes place in an apartment building where all the neighbours meddle in one another’s affairs. Arthur, a mild man, lives with a beautiful wife whose word carries; upstairs there is a bohemian painter and his model; and there is a woman who is always slightly drunk and troubles nobody. She calls on Arthur while his wife is out and passes out; trying to get her out of the flat he takes her for dead and leaves her on the neighbour’s terrace. The painter seizes the chance and sets about blackmail, but the plan is rotten from the start because the woman refuses to stay dead. The film works with the moulds of the fast American comedies of the forties. George Brent and Virginia Mayo appear in Leigh Jason’s eighty four minute American film, completed in 1947.
