What Packed In A Trunk: The Lost Art of Edith Lake Wilkinson Is About
Edith Lake Wilkinson was a painter. In 1924 she was committed to an asylum. Nothing more was heard of her. Her belongings were packed into trunks. The trunks were sent to a relative in West Virginia. For forty years they sat in an attic. Then someone went up into that attic. The person who rescued the paintings was Jane Anderson’s mother. Jane grew up among those pictures. As an adult she began to follow Edith’s trail. She wants to bring the work back to Provincetown. She wants it recognised in the art world as well. Edith had painted for a time in Provincetown. The documentary rests largely on the family archive. Jane Anderson appears in the seventy seven minute documentary, an American production Michelle Boyaner finished in 2015.
