The film is set in a small settlement in South Africa. The place is called Toorwater. An Afrikaner family lives there. The town keeps its distance from them. The family has closed in on itself. The days pass one like the other. Nobody really talks to anybody. One day a circus train loses its way. The train comes to a halt at Toorwater. A clown steps down from it. Where the man comes from is not clear. He brings some movement into the house. The children warm to him. The stillness in the family breaks. But the townspeople are uneasy about him. His presence is taken as a threat. Marius Weyers and Aletta Bezuidenhout appear in the one hundred nineteen minute film, a South African production Katinka Heyns finished in 1998.
