Pandippada

This 2005 Malayalam film by the pair Rafi and Mecartin follows Bhuvana, who wants to sell his land to clear his debts. The attempt lands him in the middle of a contest between two local landowners. The humour comes from that vice. Bhuvana tries to manage both sides and every move makes things worse; the narrative piles up the misunderstandings and keeps the pace high. Dileep leads with Prakash Raj on the opposing side. The tone is light and the violence unshowy; the narrative follows the commercial comedy pattern and moves into an emotional line in the final section. Who it's for: those who like commercial Malayalam comedy. Who it's not for: viewers expecting consistent plotting; the film keeps bending its logic in favour of the jokes.
