Panic Room

David Fincher's 2002 film follows Meg, shut into the safe room with her daughter in the house they have just moved into. Three men enter. What they are looking for is in that very room. The film takes place almost entirely in one house; the narrative keeps the space constantly visible and draws its tension from the enclosure. Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart lead. The house was built on a soundstage and designed so the camera could pass through the walls. The violence is limited but hard. Who it's for: those who like enclosed-space thrillers and Fincher. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a broad story; the film is one night and one house.
