What Papatrechas Is About
In the Athens of the sixties, Polydoros Lagos, the caretaker of an ordinary apartment block, runs about all day; whatever work comes up he does it and turns nobody away. The reason is to save money: he cannot marry until he has married off his six sisters and his aunt, and his own turn will only come after theirs. On every floor there is a different trouble and in every flat a different demand, and while he runs between them the man postpones his own life. Errikos Thalassinos’s ninety minute Greek comedy draws its humour from this endless running about. Thanasis Veggos takes the lead; it was completed in 1966.
