What Pavithram Is About
Unnikrishnan is a young man trying to hold together his career, his engagement and his bond with his elder brother. At a moment nobody in the family expected, a baby girl is born, and that birth rearranges his whole life. The relationship between Unnikrishnan and Meenakshi, with nearly thirty years between them, sits at the centre of the film, and so does the distance between being a brother and being a father. The account watches the ordinary time inside a house rather than big events, and it lets the years pass through that house. Mohanlal and Shobana appear in T. K. Rajeev Kumar’s hundred and fifty minute Malayalam film, completed in 1994.
