Philip's

Alfred Kurian Joseph's 2023 Malayalam film follows the Philip family. The house is full and runs in good order, and then an unexpected event disturbs it. The film does not inflate the crisis. The family talk it through among themselves and each gives a little ground; the narrative does not leave the solution to a single hero. Mukesh and Innocent appear. The tone is warm and humorous, with no violence. The production is small and takes place almost entirely inside the house. Who it's for: those who like Malayalam family films and quiet narratives. Who it's not for: viewers wanting tension or surprise; the film moves plainly and gently.
