Natalya Zhuravlyova What Please Accuse Klava K. of My Death Is About
Seryozha met Klava when he was four and fell in love the same day. Years passed; a boy who won mathematics olympiads went on seeing her as a pretty face, let her copy his homework and gave her things taken from his parents’ house. At fifteen she turns him down, because she knows she is not being looked at as a person, and her attention goes to another boy who is the first to be genuinely curious about her. Wanting everyone’s sympathy, Seryozha writes a note: please blame Klava K. for my death. What the film shows him is how shallow the gesture is, since the people around him carry real troubles and none of them has announced it this way. Ernest Yasan and Nikolai Lebedev directed, from a screenplay by Mikhail Lvovsky.
