What Posse Is About
The single line in our record makes this look like an ordinary manhunt, and the point is elsewhere. A federal marshal with political ambitions sets out to capture a famous train robber in order to win the fame he needs to be elected, and his men are part of that campaign. The robber is caught, but the question of who is using whom starts to turn around. A western from 1975 that plainly carries the political distrust of its time and refuses to treat the lawman as the hero. Kirk Douglas both plays the marshal and directs.
