A young photographer moves into one of the districts of Warsaw with the worst name. It is a place spoken of for its crime and its drinking, but also one with a life and a language of its own. The man comes at first to photograph the neighbourhood, then begins to live there and becomes part of what he was looking at. That experience changes both his work and his own life. The film neither prettifies the district nor asks pity for it; its subject is the distance between someone looking from outside and the people who live there. Marcin Kwasny and Sonia Bohosiewicz appear in Lukasz Palkowski’s hundred minute Polish film, completed in 2007.
