Quiet as a Mouse

Mux cannot stand small things. People putting their feet up on the underground, dropping litter, crossing on red, pushing into a queue. One day he starts intervening. He takes a camera along, because he wants what he does documented. First he warns them, then he shouts, then he fines them. He takes on Gerd, and a two-man order is established. The bigger the punishments get, the further Mux's own rules slip. At a certain point what is left is not a rule but only Mux. Marcus Mittermeier directs the German film; eighty-five minutes, with Jan Henrik Stahlberg as Mux; he wrote the script as well. It is shot like a documentary, on a handheld camera. It was much discussed in German independent film circles. What it describes is how someone who wants order ends up building an order of his own.
