What R.M.N. Is About
A few days before Christmas, Matthias quits his job at a German abattoir and returns to his multi ethnic village in Transylvania. He wants to look after his son Rudi, who has suddenly stopped speaking, see his ailing father, and find his way back to Csilla, his former lover. When the small bakery Csilla manages takes on a few migrant workers, the peace of the village breaks and years of unspoken fear, resentment and exclusion surface at once. Cristian Mungiu gathers all of it into a long single take of the village meeting, where everyone talks and nobody listens. Hard and deeply uncomfortable.
