The local boss gives her a place in his house. The mulberry growers are deep in debt to a moneylender. That debt has locked up the silk trade as well. A rival gang wants every business in the town. The boss is betrayed by his own second and killed. Oryu feels bound to repay the kindness she was shown. Protecting his children and his trade falls to her. A stranger stands by her along the way, and the final reckoning costs dearly.
