What Rough Cut Is About
Gang-pae, the number two in a criminal organisation, has always wanted to act. Su-ta is a genuine star, playing a gangster in a film, except that everyone has fled the set because he actually hits his partners in the fight scenes. Su-ta asks Gang-pae, whom he meets by chance, to take the role. The gangster accepts on one condition: the fights will not be faked. From there the film and the life run into each other. Kim Ki-duk wrote it and Jang Hoon directed, his first. The Korean title means a movie is a movie, which is the whole idea.
