Sabakan

Nagasaki in 1986. Two young friends, Hisada and Takemoto, decide to go to Boomerang Island to see the dolphins. The friendship between them deepens through that adventure. The film does not build the journey as a story of success; it shows how differently the two boys live the same day. The difference of class between them and the circumstances of their families stand throughout beneath the account. The account gives the childhood through a narrator looking back and does not hide that distance. The sea and the town are the whole setting of the film. Ichiro Banka and Konosuke Harada appear in Tomoki Kanazawa’s ninety six minute Japanese film, completed in 2022.
