Salute

The documentary looks at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. One image from a podium remains from those games. Tommie Smith and John Carlos raised their fists. The salute became a symbol of the struggle for equality in America. But there was a third man on that podium. His name was Peter Norman. Norman was an Australian athlete. He had finished the race second. He has a part in that image too. That part went little discussed for a long time. The documentary looks there. All three athletes paid a price afterwards. The film sets out what that price was. Peter Norman, Tommie Smith and John Carlos speak in the hundred and twenty minute documentary.
