Sameer & Shaheer & Baheer

Moataz El Tony's 2010 Egyptian comedy brings together three brothers by the same father who know nothing of each other. Sameer works as a stunt double in films, Shaheer is involved with music and known for his relationships with women, and Baheer was raised in a wealthy family and is entirely foreign to the world of the other two. Their father's death drops all three into the same business and they have to act together. The comedy comes from the mismatch between them and from class difference, and fantastical elements enter along the way. It is one of the films made by the trio of young comedians working together in Egypt at the time, and the humour rests largely on their rapport. The plotting is loose and the pace high. Who it's for: viewers who like Egyptian comedy. Who it's not for: anyone expecting a coherent story; the film jumps from joke to joke.
