Sanak

This action film set in Mumbai opens with Anshika in hospital for heart surgery and her husband Vivaan with her. The operation succeeds, but when an armed group takes the building and everyone inside hostage, Vivaan, a mixed martial arts trainer, finds himself alone in there. The film stays almost entirely within that building: corridors, stairwells, an operating theatre. Kanishk Varma turns the confinement to advantage, staging the fights in tight spaces rather than as wide choreography. Vidyut Jammwal's martial arts background carries the whole claim of the picture, and the narrative is interested in pace rather than in depth of character. Rukmini Maitra plays the wife and Chandan Roy Sanyal the opposition.
