What Say Hello for Me Is About
Satoshi is a quiet man who has made his childhood dream come true and runs a small shop selling aquarium plants. One day he realises that the young woman applying for work there is Karin, the childhood friend he has not seen for thirteen years. She has changed her name and does not want to speak of the past; when the name of Yuji, the third of their old trio, comes up, the account slowly opens onto the reckoning of those years. At the centre of the film is a decision one of them carries without telling the other. Yuichiro Hirakawa’s hundred and fourteen minute Japanese film was adapted from Takuji Ichikawa’s novel; Takayuki Yamada and Masami Nagasawa appear. It was completed in 2007.
