Secret

Kim Sung-yeol is a good detective investigating the killing of a gang leader's brother. At the scene he finds something and freezes: a trace belonging to his wife. She was there that night. Sung-yeol removes the evidence and starts steering the investigation the wrong way. At the same time the dead man's brother is trying to find the killer himself. Directed by Yoon Jae-goo, the film is in the familiar mould of Korean thrillers: a good policeman, a dirty choice, and a circle that keeps tightening. Cha Seung-won plays the detective and Song Yun-ah his wife. A hundred and five minutes. The story runs two questions at once; the man does not know what his wife did and neither does the audience. The film's strength is in holding that uncertainty for a long time.
