Secrets of Sinauli

The documentary is about the excavations at Sinauli in Uttar Pradesh. A burial ground roughly four thousand years old was uncovered there. The digs turned up coffins, copper vessels, weapons and jewellery. A wheeled vehicle stands at the centre of the argument. The body running the dig described it as a war chariot. The documentary uses that description too. Some archaeologists do not agree. The wheels are solid wood rather than spoked. No horse remains were found at the site. Those two points suggest the vehicle may be an ox cart. The excavating body itself said oxen may have drawn them. Any link between the finds and Vedic culture is disputed as well. The documentary gives no room to these objections. It builds its telling on the excitement of discovery. The text therefore runs as a case being argued. Manoj Bajpayee narrates the fifty six minute documentary. It is an Indian production Raghav Jairath finished in 2021.
