What September Is About
Over one day in September, three loosely connected people realise that the life they have is not the one they wanted. One is a man worn out by his profession, one a woman who has not admitted her marriage is over, and one is only just starting out. The film does not force them together; it moves between them and judges nobody. This is Giulia Louise Steigerwalt's first film as director, classified as comedy but working through recognition rather than laughter. It belongs to the small-scale, person-centred strand of Italian cinema, so do not wait for a big event.
