Seven Babysitters

Seven young workers at a clock factory take on a responsibility. They agree to take charge of a boy who has been in trouble with the law. His name is Afanasy. He moves into the hostel with them. All seven try to set him straight in their own way. Each of them has a different method. Afanasy finds his own path in the middle of that crowd. A talent for acting serves him well. He takes in his guardians one by one. He arranges things that leave them in awkward positions. The film draws its comedy out of those pranks. Something like real affection is built along the way too. The title comes from a Russian proverb. The proverb says that with too many nannies the child goes unwatched. Rolan Bykov began directing with this film. Semyon Morozov and Vladimir Ivashov appear in the seventy six minute film, a Soviet production Rolan Bykov finished in 1962.
