What Shrew's Nest Is About
In Madrid in the 1950s a woman who never leaves the house lives with her younger sister and makes a living sewing. A young neighbour who falls on the stairs comes into their flat for help. The film joins a confined-space thriller to her illness; the narrative shows her as neither wholly a monster nor wholly a victim and discloses late what her father left behind. It almost never leaves the flat. Juanfer Andres and Esteban Roel directed, with Macarena Gomez in the lead and Alex de la Iglesia among the producers. A real warning: there is captivity, torture and substance dependence. Past abuse is also described plainly.
