Sister Helen

The documentary is set in New York. The place is the South Bronx. At the centre of the account is a woman called Helen. Helen went through a great loss. She lost her husband and her two sons. After that loss she made a decision. She decided to open a house. The house is for people trying to leave addiction behind. Some of the residents are working to stop drinking. Others are dealing with drugs. Helen runs the house by her own rules. The rules are hard but they are plain. The camera stays inside it. Daily life is recorded as it happens. The days of the residents are inside the account too. Rebecca Cammisa and Rob Fruchtman made the ninety minute documentary. The American production was finished in 2002.
