Sky Force

The 2025 Indian film by Abhishek Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani recounts an air operation during the 1965 war between India and Pakistan. India is hit by a surprise attack at the start of the war, Wing Commander Ahuja leads the counter-strike, and during it a pilot from the squadron disappears after taking on an enemy aircraft alone. From there the film follows Ahuja's search across twenty-three years; the official records are incomplete, no answer is given and the missing man's family waits for an explanation. The story foregrounds the aerial combat, but its real subject is a state refusing to acknowledge what became of its own soldier. The production sets a nationalist frame and gives the other side no detail. Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya star. Who it's for: viewers who like war films and productions drawn from Indian history. Who it's not for: anyone expecting a balanced historical account; the film looks from one side.
