Smell of Camphor, Fragrance of Jasmine

Bahman is a director. He has not been able to make a film for twenty four years. The reason is that he cannot get past the censors. Now he is working on a documentary. The subject is burial customs in Iran. The work keeps him close to death. Meanwhile the anniversary of his wife’s death arrives. Someone he picks up on the road tells him her own story. What she tells is of violence and of a baby she lost. Then he learns something else. His own plot beside his wife has been given to someone else. He goes to his lawyer to sort it out. His niece’s husband, meanwhile, has not come home. He starts searching the hospitals for the man. His own heart is giving him trouble as well. Bahman Farmanara and Reza Kianian appear in the ninety three minute film, an Iranian production Bahman Farmanara finished in 2000.
