Song of the Miraculous Hind

The animation is made of four parts. Its source is Siberian and Finno-Ugric legend. The account begins with creation. The first figures are half human and half animal. One is half bird, one half bear. Then it moves to the roots of Hungarian culture. Iranian and Turkic influences are described. The paths of migration are drawn. The last part tells the story of Stephen. The ruler brought Christianity to the country. He moved the capital west. The aim was to tie the country to Europe. The animation was made for adults. The drawing and the colour follow the mythic telling. A snowstorm and a hind run through the account. Arpad Besenczi and Ildiko Bokor give the voices in the eighty nine minute animation, a Hungarian production Marcell Jankovics finished in 2002.
