What Soul of the Sword Is About
A swordsman with no name sets out to beat the faceless King of Swords and take the title for himself. Along the way fighters come at him out of the shadows, and every encounter leaves him more alone. One of the traps laid for him comes by a woman’s hand. The film’s case is that a man’s weapon reflects his dreams, his desires and his fears. What a warrior with no name and a single motive finally becomes is the real subject. The price of winning a title rises as the story goes on. It comes from the hard vein of Hong Kong sword films of 1978. Ti Lung takes the lead, with Ku Feng also in the cast. Hua Shan’s eighty five minute Hong Kong film was completed in 1978.
