What Spring Came on Laughing Is About
Noha Adel's 2025 Egyptian film is made of four stories set in spring, each following a different family or woman. What they share is the tension behind the laughter. A wedding, a move, an illness and an argument come in turn; the narrative does not connect the parts and resolves none of them. The cast are largely unknown and play in a natural register. The images are interior. The running time is kept short. Who it's for: those who like Egyptian independent cinema and episodic narrative. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a connected story; the film is four separate pieces.
