What Squint Your Eyes Is About
A ten year old girl runs away from parents who are proud of their money and takes grudging shelter with the slightly slovenly caretaker of an abandoned farm, a former teacher who does not want her there. A quiet arrangement forms between them, and at the edge of town, where nobody is watching, something like a life of their own appears. Andrzej Jakimowski films the Polish countryside as beautiful and abandoned at once, keeps the humour low and never presses on the sadness. Zbigniew Zamachowski plays the caretaker. A film that talks little, looks a lot, and asks the same of you.
