Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

The last film of the trilogy and the point where two trilogies join. The war is going on. The film opens with a rescue and Anakin and Obi-Wan get the chancellor off a ship. Anakin is having dreams. He sees his wife dying in childbirth and looks for a way to prevent it. The chancellor tells him something. There is a power that can stop death, and only one side knows it. From there the film is a collapse. Anakin does not trust the council, the council does not trust him, and the man between them catches him in the middle. An order is given. On every front at the same time, soldiers shoot their own commanders, and the order of things changes in a night. What the narrative is interested in is not war but persuasion: the film deceives a man through his fear and gives him a reason that looks right at every step. The last section takes place on a volcanic planet where two friends fight; the sequence is long and the outcome is known in advance. It was shown with a higher certificate than the rest of the series for the first time; two scenes near the end are the reason. It was shot largely in the studio in front of blue screens and almost all the backgrounds were added afterwards. Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Ian McDiarmid and Samuel L. Jackson are in the cast. George Lucas wrote and directed. Who it is for: anyone who wants to finish the trilogy and see the join to the first films. Who it is not for: anyone looking for dialogue; the love scenes are weak and the most criticised writing in the series is here.
