Stavros Halkias: Fat Rascal

This 2023 special contains the stage set of the American comedian Stavros Halkias. The material was gathered across two years of touring, and most of it concerns his own habits, his family and embarrassing memories. Halkias builds his comedy around himself as the target. He talks about his weight, his relationships and his disordered life; the jokes proceed as personal confession and he keeps up a running exchange with the audience. The recording is kept simple: one venue, a few cameras and unintrusive editing. The show rests on a name known from an internet talk programme and assumes the audience knows that context. Who it's for: those who like American stand-up. Who it's not for: viewers put off by sexual and coarse humour; the set rests largely on that material.
