What Straight from the Barrio Is About
Edgar deals drugs in a housing project in Puerto Rico, his life bounded by the balance of power inside his crew. He also makes music, and one day a real offer arrives from the reggaeton scene. Now there are two roads and they do not run together: his place in the neighbourhood, or the chance outside it. Daddy Yankee plays the lead and the story gestures at his own beginnings. It moves less like a music film than a crime drama about the cost of leaving.
